Questions
If your question isn’t here, it will be soon. This is a living page.
The basics
It reads the data already on your iPhone — messages, calls, locations, photos, timelines — and turns it into clear, organized, timestamped reports you can actually read and make sense of.
No. If you can plug a phone into a computer, you can use it. Every step is guided in plain language — no forensic background, no command line, no setup.
No. truth spores talks to your iPhone directly over the cable and handles the backup itself. No iTunes, no Finder, no wrestling with backup folders. Already have a backup from iTunes or Finder? You can use that too.
A computer, your iPhone and a cable, and — if your backup is encrypted — the backup password. That’s it.
Not yet — truth spores is built for iPhone today, and we’d rather do one platform really well than spread ourselves thin. But Android is genuinely on the roadmap: the core idea — turning the data already on your device into clear, readable reports — matters just as much there. We’re not putting a date on it yet, because we’d rather ship it right than rush it. If you’re on Android, the waitlist is still the place to be — you’ll be first to know the moment it’s ready.
Privacy & security
No — and we built it that way on purpose. Everything is read, decrypted, and turned into reports entirely on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is stored on our servers. The only thing that ever talks to us is a license key — never your messages, photos, or reports.
Yes. Your password is used locally to unlock your own backup on your own machine. It never leaves your computer and we never receive it.
Your own device, or one you are legally authorized to access. truth spores exists to help you make sense of your own data — not to access someone else’s without permission. Using it on data you don’t have the right to access may be illegal, and that responsibility is yours.
What it can (and can’t) do
Messages, call logs, location history, photo timelines, and per-contact interaction histories — plus a consolidated timeline that pulls it together. You choose what you need and can narrow to a date range or a specific person.
We’ll always be straight with you here: truth spores reads and organizes what’s actually present in your backup. Some deleted data still lingers in a backup — and some is genuinely gone. We can’t promise to recover what isn’t there. What we do is make sense of what is.
The reports are clear, organized, and timestamped, which many people find useful when they need to show what happened. But we’re not lawyers, and whether anything is admissible depends entirely on your jurisdiction and your situation. For anything legal, talk to an attorney about your specific case.
Better than you might expect. truth spores doesn’t rely on hooking into the latest iOS internals — it reads the standard iPhone backup, the same format Apple has used for years. That format stays remarkably stable from one iOS release to the next, so a new version of iOS usually doesn’t break anything. We still test against current and recent iOS versions and update the app whenever Apple does change something — and the app shows you which versions it’s been tested on, so you always know where you stand.
Pricing & access
We’ll announce pricing at launch. The plan is to keep it flexible — pay for a single situation when you need it, or subscribe if you’ve got something ongoing. Waitlist members get founding-member pricing before anyone else.
truth spores isn’t public yet. Join the waitlist and you’ll be first to know the moment it opens — and you’ll lock in founding-member pricing.
